Dark green, heavily veined lanceolate lvs, 12 x 3.5cm, grey-green below. Truss of 12-14 funnel shaped fls, vibrant turkey red with darker spots in throat in full trusses. Frilled lobes, red stigma and style. Prefers some shade.( Hyb by Edgar Stead before 1950, R and reg by Mr G. Smith, Pukeiti, 1985.) Text Box: R Rothesay [ciliicalyx op] 1-1.5m, EM. Eventually a medium sized, dome shaped bush with shining mid-green lvs. Pink buds opening to large white fls, with flushed pink reverse and greenish spotting on the upper lobe. Truss 6-10 flowered. Delicately perfumed. Prefers some shade and shelter from cold winds. (R(first flowered 1971), intro(1973) and reg RHS by Bruce Campbell, 1977) {Rothesay was the early survey name for the part of North-West Harbour, Dunedin where Bruce Campbell lived and had his nursery; now called Ravensbourne.} ref.
