Text Box: R Kiwi Magic [(yakushimanum x Dido) x Lems Cameo] 1—1.5m, M-ML. The bush has compact growth and is as wide as high, closely covered with attractive foliage to the ground. Frilled fls open from deep pink buds and, at first are soft pink with a brilliant yellow centre, slowly transforming to pale yellow at the petal margins. Double calyx is pointed like a star. Each truss holds 13—14 fls. (Hyb, R and reg by Jeff Elliot, Christchurch, 1988) [#167]

Text Box: R Ivan D Wood [(King of Shrubs x Fawn) x Dido] (syn: IDW) 2m, ML. Bush is upright and strong growing and likes a little shade. Cream/green at edge of flower. Centre orange buff fading to Naples yellow. Fls individually large, 12 cm, and carriedin a well proportioned truss. Excellent cut flower lasting well in water. Performance varies considerably according to location. (R from USA seed 1961, and reg by Mrs R.J. Coker, 129 Ilam Road, Christchurch, 1975.) [#4]{ Sister seedling to Coral Queen and Pacific Princess. Named for her late husband}

Rh Ilam TangerineRh Ilam TangerineText Box: R Beverly Tasker [(Dido x Jalisco) x Yellow Creek] 1.2m high and as wide in 10 years from seed, M. General effect is ripple. Lemon yellow fls 7.5 cm across, green in base of throat with pink stames and green pistil; frilled and crinkly. Healthy attractive bush, loosely dense lvs, darkish mid-green and slightly glossy. Loose truss,  7 fls mostly, some double heads have 11 fls. Floriforous plant. Fls above lvs.  (R and reg  by Mr H. R. Text Box: R Mary Tasker [‘Jalisco’ x ‘Fawn’] 1 to 1.5m high and across, ML. Bush attractive and healthy with dense covering of mid-green lvs. Fls dawn pink on outside of carolla and inside petal tips. Naples yellow in from edges with lower part of throat currant red. General effect attractive soft pink with creamy yellow centre nearly to outside with red throat. Floriferous. Loose truss of 9-11 fls, each flower 10-12 cm across, frilled and a little crinkly.  (R and reg  by Mr H. R. Tasker, ‘Staple Homestead’ Ruapuna, Ashburton, RD 5, 1977) [#20].

Rh Mary TaskerRh Ilam TangerineText Box: R Bonnie Doone [‘Believed to be ‘Gold Mohur’ x ‘Ilam Apricot’] 1.2m. M. Golden yellow fls with wavy edges in a good truss. A compact plant that fls freely. Glossy lvs. (Hyb by J.S. Yeates) {It was originally named Kirsty (and appears on some list as Kirsty Yeates) after a Christchurch born granddaughter, but the name was already taken on the RHS Register. It was then named Bonnie Doone after a home built by Peggy Yeates’ father in Palmerston North. Much more frilled than Kimbolton Yellow which was an earlier selection of JS Yeates. Ref: Yeates family} There appears to be some confusion with this plant and it is believed by some that this has also been distributed as Kimbolton Yellow and by others that this is a sister seedling.

Rh Ilam TangerineText Box: R Charisma [form of ciliicalyx from KW20280] Compact shrub to 2 m, with dark green foliage and attractive mahogany peeling bark. EM. Funnel shaped fls in truss of 2-4, 7 x 10 cm, rose madder in bud, opens to rose pink with darker line on each lobe and orange-yellow blotch. Scented. Slightly frost tender.   (NZRA seedling, R and reg by Pukeiti Rhodoendron Trust Inc, RD 4, New Plymouth, 1980.) AD 1984 [#43].

Rh Ilam TangerineText Box: R Stonelaw [edgeworthii x burmanicum ] Slightly tender upright, spreding bush to 2 m, M-ML. Dark-green and bullate ovate lvs with rusty-brown scales on undersides. Petioles and stems of young shoots are woolly. Fls widely funnel-shaped, white flushed rose, spotted pink and greenish-yellow in the throat on the upper lobes. (R by the Dunedin Botanic Garden, intro by C.A. McLaughlin and reg RHS by DRG, 1990. ) { Named after the Terrace in Dunedin where Chas & Bess McLaughlin had there home and city garden} Ref: DRG Bulletin No.19.
